AN EVOLVING BUSINESS

In 1943, the Clark family came upon the Rocky Mountain Evergreen Nursery on Brook Forest Road to buy a few blue spruces to plant around their cottage. Rozzi Clark ended up buying the entire place – 160 acres and over a million blue spruces – on the spot. As the tree nursery business progressed, the company was naturally led into additional work performing landscaping, building porches, and maintaining properties for local residents. The company Evergreen Supply Company was formed.

Over several more years, with some good hired help, the Clarks were building houses all over the Evergreen area. As the next generation came into play, Rozzi’s three sons led an LP gas, real estate, and heavy construction company – the one that remains today.

FROM 1944 TO TODAY

Rozzi’s son Budd took the reigns of ESCO Construction Company with his two sons, Pat and Mike Clark. Over the years, ESCO has built or remodeled many buildings on Evergreen’s Main Street including the Evergreen National Bank complex and Mountain Pharmacy Building, El Rancho Restaurant, Christ the King Church, and many of the subdivisions in town like the Ridge at Hiwan, Greenwood, and The Promontory.

Today, Pat and his son, Eric, operate ESCO as third and fourth generation owners. With the booming housing market and many capital improvement projects, ESCO has expanded its capabilities and taken on projects all across the state.
